Oh these two. They kept us laughing and having fun through the whole day! They love one another so well, and were so giddy to finally be married! We are so proud of who they are, and who they push one another to be.
Matt is a high school pastor, and so has a busy and demanding job that is loads of fun and loads of responsibility. He met his sweet bride, a pediatric ICU nurse (also a busy and demanding job), less than one short year ago. Carlyn is originally from Pennsylvania, and moved out here just before things with Matt got serious. And they got serious quickly! These two met, fell in love, got engaged, and planned a beautiful wedding…all in less than a year! That’s pretty impressive if you ask us! And now they’re enjoying a much-deserved break on the beaches of Cabo.
Carlyn & Matt chose the brand new venue, The Paseo in Apache Junction, for their big day, and we couldn’t have been more in love with their choice. Being from Pennsylvania, and having family coming from back east for the big day, Carlyn wanted her wedding day to scream “Arizona beauty.” The Paseo was perfect for that. The ceremony backdrop was the stunning Superstition Mountains, just as the sun was lighting them up in oranges and pinks. Surrounding the cocktail hour patio was acres of open desert, with saguaros standing tall in the evening light. Her colors of deep purple, light pink, and just a hint of dusty mint, brought the warmth but also kept the chilly winter vibe. Bess from Zuzu’s Petals did a stellar job with the florals, and we couldn’t stop talking about her creations all night.
Probably the best decision Carlyn & Matt chose for their wedding day was hiring Amy as their planner. She. Was. Fantastic. We believe a good planner is one of the most important decisions of the wedding process, and it makes all the difference in the stress level of the day. Carlyn & Matt’s day was so well planned out and taken care of that we had EXTRA time in the schedule!! So, what do two photographers and two videographers do when there is extra time in the schedule? Take more photos, of course! Pull out the drone and get some amazing fly-over video shots! (You’ll see those later…) Seriously, we got two full bride & groom photo session times during the day, totaling probably an hour and a half just with the two of them. Not to mention, we were able to take 45 minutes EACH with family and bridal party and get every combination they could dream up. Trust us, a good planner (or even a day-of coordinator) is crucial.
One of our favorite parts of Carlyn & Matt’s whole day was their first look. They stood, back to back, giggling with nervous excitement, and spent several minutes reading letters they had written to one another. It was such a private and beautiful moment, we almost felt a little guilty for being there. Almost. We did get some pretty awesome shots, so the guilt didn’t last long.
Carlyn & Matt, it was a true honor to be a small part of your wedding day, watching you commit your lives to one another. We love you two, and we are so excited to watch your marriage grow!
